Designing beautiful spaces today means understanding the technology that supports them. Lighting, connected homes and home cinema are no longer “add-ons” – they’re integral to how people experience their homes.
Continuing on from the success of our sessions last year, this year we will be hosting more CPD events, designed to share our knowledge on these spaces.
Each session is:
- BIID and RIBA accredited
- Delivered in a relaxed, lunchtime format
- Focused on design-led, client-friendly solutions
- Built around real projects, not just theory
Upcoming Events:
Tuesday 24th February: Transforming Space with Light
Lighting is one of the most powerful tools in design — yet also one of the easiest to get wrong when technology isn’t considered early.
In this session, we’ll explore:
- How lighting design and lighting control work together
- Common pitfalls in residential projects
- What designers should consider before specifying fixtures and controls
Perfect for anyone wanting to create lighting schemes that look beautiful and function effortlessly.
Tuesday 23rd June: The Connected Home
Smart homes aren’t one-size-fits-all. From simple app control to fully integrated systems, this session breaks down the five levels of home automation in a clear, designer-friendly way.
We’ll cover:
- What each “level” of connected home really means
- How to match technology to different types of clients
- When automation adds value — and when it doesn’t
- How early collaboration avoids costly changes later
Ideal if you want to feel confident talking about smart homes without needing to become a tech expert.
Tuesday 3rd November: Home Cinema Design
Home cinema is no longer just about big screens and dark rooms — it’s about creating immersive spaces that integrate seamlessly with interior design.
In this session, we’ll look at:
- The difference between cinema rooms and media rooms
- Acoustic considerations designers should know
- How layout, lighting and materials affect performance
- What makes a truly “cinematic” experience at home
Great for designers working on entertainment spaces, basements or multi-use rooms.
