Lighting Design & Control

Home » Lighting Design & Control

Lighting design shapes a home’s atmosphere as much as architecture and interiors do. From consultancy through to full scheme design, and complete control integration (where it’s wanted), at IndigoZest every discipline is delivered by one studio — together or separately

Design-led

Every scheme starts with how a space should feel, what elements you want highlighted, and how you move through the space.

Stands alone, or fully integrated

Lighting design is a complete service in its own right. Where you also want whole-home control, we engineer the two together from day one.

Commitment to Quality

We focus on high-quality fixtures driven by their ability to deliver superior performance and design versatility.

— WHY IS LIGHTING DESIGN SO IMPORTANT?

Lighting is the element that brings your home to life.

We know the time and thought that goes into the design of your build. If lighting isn’t planned to align with the architecture and interiors, even the most considered space will feel flat.

Good lighting design also changes how a room functions, not just how it looks. Bright, focused light lifts a home office; warm, layered light settles a living room for the evening. Getting that balance right — room by room, hour by hour — is what transform spaces.

— THE INDIGOZEST DIFFERENCE

Two disciplines. Designed as one.

At IndigoZest we offer lighting design and control as a complete package.

01 — DESIGN

How the space should feel

Working from your architecture and interior design, we balance natural and artificial light, contrast dark and light areas, and create focal points that draw the eye. This is a complete service on its own.

  • Room-by-room lighting layers, not a single flat scheme
  • Considered fixture selection — energy-efficient, smooth-dimming, built to last
  • Available as a standalone design service, with no smart control system required
02 — CONTROL

How the space should behave

Traditional light switches provide a basic on, off, or dim function. A smart lighting system gives you scenes. These are pre-programmed light settings designed around how you actually use each room, and controlled from wall-mounted keypads, touchscreens, mobile app or voice.

We build this in alongside the design itself, as an addition to the service, not a requirement of it.

  • Integrated with Control4, Crestron, Lutron and KNX systems
  • Pre-programmed scenes for daily life, not just an on/off switch
  • Can extend into one whole-home control system — lighting, shading, AV, climate

— MEET THE DESIGNER

Chhaya Landschultz

Lighting Designer & Director, IndigoZest

Chhaya leads lighting design at IndigoZest, working across residential, commercial and hospitality projects. She designs every scheme with the control system in mind from the first sketch — which is why our lighting doesn’t just look considered, it behaves that way too.

“The best lighting design is the kind you stop noticing — because it always does the right thing, in every room, at every time of day.”

— OUR PROCESS

From first sketch to final scene

01

Vision & Concept

Firstly, we’ll look to gain a full understanding of the project and how light can best support your interior concept for the space. From this, mood boards and an initial design concept will be created.

02

Detailed Design

Once the layout has been approved, we’ll work on the detailed design, providing AutoCAD drawings, the Lighting Schedule, and any further information required by your electrical team.

03

Procurement

We can quote and supply all lighting fixtures using trusted suppliers. We’ll manage the full procurement process, working directly with your electrician and design team.

04

Construction

During the construction phase of your build, we’ll typically liaise directly with your electrician. This will include on-site meetings to discuss the lighting design, specifications, and lighting products.

05

Commisioning

Once the scope of work is complete, we will inspect and commission the lighting scheme to meet the original design intent and set lighting levels for programming of control systems.

— COMMON QUESTIONS

Your lighting design questions, answered

Can I use IndigoZest for lighting design without a full control system?

Yes. Lighting design is a standalone service at IndigoZest and does not require a smart home control system. Our designer, Chhaya, designs complete lighting schemes, including fixture selection and circuit layout, for clients who want design only, with standard switching installed instead of a control system. Whole-home control — Control4, Crestron, Lutron or KNX — is available as an optional addition, not a requirement.

No. IndigoZest provides both lighting design and control integration in-house, through one team, so a separate lighting designer and control company aren’t required. Each scheme is designed with wiring and control in mind from the outset — whether or not a control system is included — which avoids the design and installation being planned in isolation.

When a lighting design is integrated with a control system, IndigoZest plans the circuit layout and scene structure for that specific platform — Control4, Crestron, Lutron or KNX — before installation begins. Keypads, touchscreens and app controls are then programmed to match the lighting design exactly, with pre-set scenes for different times of day and activities, rather than a generic switch layout added on afterwards.
